Classic Double at Wagga

A great way to open the NUTRIEN CLASSIC SALES RACE SERIES at Wagga on Friday.

3yo filly WILLOWS GIRL and 3yo colt BROOKLYN DAN each strode to a heat victory after working their way to the lead from wide draws.

They flew the gate from the extreme outside of the front row and then after some respite finished in quick times.

Willows Girl ran her last 400m in 26.5sec to rate 1:56.7 over 2270m, and Brooklyn Dan finished off in 26.6sec to rate 1:56.2.

Willows Girl has five wins this season for a career record of six in 13 starts for almost $117,000.

Brooklyn Dan also has five victories this season for six in 10 career starts and $115,000.

The Emma Stewart-trained duo, in addition to second-placed 3yo gelding CARDIGAN DAN, now progress to the rich final at Wagga on Saturday, May 30.
